The Waves Festival, programmed by the Young Centre’s 12 Resident Artists (including yours truly), transforms the award winning venue into an artistic treasure hunt featuring a vast array of new, original 15 minute works ranging from theatre, dance and music to innovative mixed media work and installations. The Waves Festival offers something for all ages and interests, free of charge, featuring many artists from around our beautiful city. Retrocity all 80s, all a cappella, all the time, is back this year with Live Juke 'n' Jive. In a room representing a larger-than-life jukebox, audience members will be able to select a song from a playlist which will trigger our live music and a newly choreographed dance. You have to see and hear it to believe it! There's also much, much more to experience...a feast for the senses! Waves Festival is produced in association with Luminato and runs Friday, June 18 (7 – 10 PM), Saturday, June 19 (2 – 10 PM), and Sunday, June 20 (2 – 6 PM) at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. Admission is FREE. The Young Centre for the Performing Arts is located at 55 Mill Street, Building 49, in the Distillery Historic District. More information may be found online at www.youngcentre.ca or www.luminato.com . The Young Centre Resident Artist program is generously supported by Donna and Gary Slaight.
